The Volume Purchase Programme is an iniative by Apple for Education and Business. At its simplest, once you purchase 20+ Apps, you get a 50% discount. It also provides a central purchasing area under one Apple ID to purchase Apps. This makes it easy for educators to purchase new Apps and download redeemable codes when needed.
DEP
The Device Enrollment Programme is an iniative by Apple for organisations with many multiple devices who already have an MDM (Mobile Device Management) structure in place. This allows your Profiles to be automatically installed when purchasing the new devices from your reseller.
Deployment
If you only have a few devices - deployment is not a requirement. However, when future-planning, you should take into account a 1:1 strategy. Configurator
Configurator is a free application from Apple for managing multiple devices. It configures and installs Configuration Profiles on devices which can restrict usage, force passcodes, only allow certain websites to be browsed and more.
